Additional Operations Support for the Coordinated Arctic Acoustic Thermometry Experiment (CAATEX)
Abstract
"Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI, P.I. John Kemp) requests additional funding tosupport a cruise on the Norwegian Coast Guard Vessel KV Svalbard. The mission of the cruise isto recover three moorings deployed in the Canadian Basin in the summer of 2019. Thesemoorings were originally scheduled to be recovered on the USCGC Healy this summer, but acatastrophic engine failure onboard the Healy ended all operations before the field work could becompleted. WHOI will lead the deck operations on the recovery cruise onboard the KV Svalbard. Funds are budgeted for shipping the recovered equipment back from Longyearbyen, Norway. Funds arealso requested for salary and travel for one person to participate on the recovery cruise.
