ESRDC: Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium 2021 - 2025

Abstract

The ESRDC proposes applied research work in four technical areas with the goal to further advance integrated power and energy systems (IPES) technologies for the Navy.Power Electronic Power Distribution Systems (PEPDS) is a new approach to develop a fully integrated power electronic based power and energy distribution system.Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) is an emerging paradigm for the Navy to design, build, test, and maintain IPES technologies in the future. The Navy integrated Power and Energy Corridor (NiPEC) isa novel pproach to implement PEPDS in way that features modular and flexible ship design practices.High Temperature Superconducting(HTS) technologies provide a complementary pathway to power dense IPES.
