Turbomachinery RF Experimental MIMO Analyzer System for Health Monitoring and Inlet Debris Detection

Abstract

The University of Notre Dame requests funds to acquire RF Experimental MIMO AnalyzerSystem that will enable augmented RF experiment al capabilities and provide enhanced sensingperformance to support turbomachinery research conducted within the University of Notre Damecampus research enterprise. This RF MIMO analyzer system will enable critical research andcapabilities focused on sensing int ake debris ingestion, detecting strikes/damage to the rotor, andmonitoring the health and operation of gas turbine engines, which a re all known critical needs toDepartment of Navy and other US Services turbomachinery operations. Additionally, with thisanalyzer system, an enduring capability will be available to address future Department of theNavy and Defense critical research requirement s while providing the opportunity to educatefuture generations of scientists and engineers.
