Support for the 2nd National Workshop on Marine eDNA

Abstract

The 2nd National Workshop on Marine Environmental DNA (eDNA) will bring together a diverse cross-section of researchers and environm, ental managers to discuss the latest eDNA technological advances, biomonitoring and bioassessment applications, and opportunities fo,r expanding eDNA integration into state and federal monitoring programs. The workshop will result in a special issue of a scientific, journal that will focus on eDNA management application case studies and on the products that derive from the workshop discussions.,Additionally, a key outcome of the workshop will be series of collaborations between scientists and agencies for addressing the prim, ary impediments to eDNA-method adoption. These collaborations may come in the form of intercalibration exercises, technical studies,, DNA library development, and bioinformatics comparisons. Taken together, this workshop will not only allow for the sharing of eDNA,expert experience and guidance but will also help create a blueprint for eDNA method integration into local, state, and national mon, itoring programs.
