EPIC Aerosol Retrieval Datasets for Diagnosing and Improving Aerosol Optical Treatments in the Navy

Abstract

Advanced aerosol characterization using capabilities of the NASA EPIC instrument on the NOAA DSCOVR satellite provides a long term, series with global coverage of aerosol properties relevant to predictions of EO propagation from the Navy Aerosol Analysis and Predi, ction System (NAAPS), with unprecedented precision and accuracy. This proposal will produce a multi-year global time series of retri, eved aerosol properties from DSCOVR EPIC, including error characterization, which will be packaged for use in aerosol model developm, ent research at NRL.
