Scientific Instrumentation Upgrade for R/V Thomas G Thompson

Abstract

DURIP 2021 Proposal University of Washington School of Oceanography Scientific Instrumentation Upgrades for R/V Thomas G Thompson Pr,ogram Officer: 321, Sparrock. This proposal is submitted with the intent of upgrading the scientific capabilities of Research Vessel, Thomas G Thompson (AGOR-23). R/V Thompson is owned by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and is operated by the University of Washi,ngton under Charter Party Agreement. The vessel supports oceanographic research conducted by numerous scientists similar to other ve,ssels that comprise the University National Oceanographic Laboratory Systems (UNOLS) fleet. This includes research sponsored by the, Office of Naval Research as well as other important entities such as NASA, NOAA, USGS, and the University of Washington.In this pro,posal the University of Washington proposes to further upgrade the capabilities of R/V Thompson by procuring and installing a new Ko,ngsberg 124 Multibeam system.This abstract is publically releasable.-
