NIUVT - Accelerating Technology Innovation for Current and Future Undersea Vehicles

Abstract

The National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT) continues to accelerate the advancement of undersea technology import,ant to national defense and economic development. This proposed funding will allow NIUVT to pursue applied research to effectively,meet current and future needs of the Navy. Consistent with the Navys strategy, the NIUVT mission is to conduct applied research to,accelerate the development and transition of enabling technologies to advance and streamline the design and manufacturing of the nex,t-generation U.S. undersea fleet. The requested funding will address the urgency and importance of injecting advanced technologies i,nto new designs/blocks by continuing to support and aggressively expanding applied research in undersea vehicle technologies. To eff,iciently allocate resources and accelerate advances in undersea vehicle innovation and technology, short-term high-impact applied re,search projects will be conducted. The undersea vehicle research will provide solutions and explore opportunities to accelerate inno,vation in the undersea research and development enterprise.
