Multi-channel spectrum analyzer for component characterization with fast and accurate noise figure m

Abstract

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the Stanford University requests funds to purchase equipment for the measurement and cha, racterization of III-Nitride devices, and MMICs for RF applications. The proposed instrumentation will fill a void in our measuremen,t capabilities at Stanford and enable crucial advances in our research. We request $300,000 to fund towards the acquisition of a PNA,-X Series microwave network analyzer to measure and characterize GaN devices at high frequencies (10 MHz to 67 GHz). Procurement of,this system will greatly enhance current research capabilities and will result in the success of our current ONR program immediately,. The proposed equipment will integrate with existing facilities to provide unique opportunities for training students in all phases, of device and circuit technology. This proposal will describe the proposed equipment, demonstrate the impact on several ongoing res, earch programs, and demonstrate how the equipment will complement existing facilities at Stanford.
