2023 Micro and Nanoscale Phase Change Phenomena GRC & GRS
Abstract
The Micro and Nanoscale Phase Change Phenomena Gordon Research Conference will be held in Lucca, Italy, January 8-13, 2023. This GRC, is now the fourth conference in the series and is well-established as the forum to discuss fundamental issues related to all aspect,s of phase-change phenomena in small-scale systems, consistently attracting a large number of participants from all over the world., The upcoming conference will allow the community to identify future needs and to develop research strategies for the most pressing, problems associated with applications in such diverse areas as thermal management, energy conversion, energy storage, flexible manuf, acturing techniques, and weapons systems. This GRC ties in well with the ONRs mission of fundamental understanding of phase-change,heat transfer for addressing thermal management challenges in various naval applications. The conference format allows for plenty o,f informal interactions between junior researchers and top experts in the field, as well as between scientists from different resear,ch communities. In addition to the main conference, a Gordon Research Symposium on the same topic will run January 7 and 8, before t,he main conference starts. The GRS is run entirely by graduate students and postdoctoral associates and gives the early-career rese, archers a unique forum to present and share information independent of the senior people who normally populate a GRC. The GRC organi, zation provides only a fraction of funding needed, so additional financial support is essential for the ability to run a successful, conference.
