Optimizing data processing architecture

Abstract

The scope of this basic research grant is to investigate a variety of digital data processing tasks that are of interest to the Navy,, compare trade-offs between programmability and execution time, assess power consumption, and deliver recommendations for developme,nt strategies for creating optimally sized solutions for the tasks. There are several other considerations, such as security and dev,elopment costs, which will be taken into consideration. A further research objective is to investigate the appropriate block-level p,rocessor architecture for one or more specific data processing tasks, which will be determined with inputs from the Navy.
