Manufacturing of Ultra-High Temperature Hypersonic Ceramic Materials

Abstract

The proposed funding will be used to purchase the following major equipment to create new fundamental understanding for the novel ma,nufacturing science of materials for hypersonic using direct current sintering furnace technology operating at ultra-high temperatur,e and pressure. The relevant research areas that will benefit from this equipment purchase include manufacturing of hypersonic mater, ials for use in multiple hypersonic weapons systems. Manufacturing of radomes, windows, sharp leading edges, shrouds, nozzles, and n,osetips are primary candidate prototype parts for ultra-high temperature manufacturing science and integration to their systems.
