International Conference on Mid-IR Optoelectronics: Materials and Devices, 2023(MIOMD 2023)

Abstract

Abstract (Approved for Public Release):The International Conference on Mid-IR Optoelectronics: Materials and Devices provides a prom, inent international forum for reporting new developments in the areas of fundamental and applied optoelectronic materials and device,s: including advances in infrared optoelectronic materials development, growth, and characterization; infrared optoelectronic device,s, components, and systems; infrared emitters and detectors; interband and intersubband materials and devices; novel architectures b,ased on new materials and low-dimensional structures; and non-linear infrared optoelectronics. The program will integrate technical, oral sessions, poster presentations, and social activities providing many opportunities for discussions between senior researchers,,junior researchers, and students.Mid-IR Optoelectronic materials and devices are highly related to US Naval or Marine Corp Science &, Technology and is the foundation for many technology interests identified by ONR BAA Announcement. Therefore, it is necessary for t,he Navy to be aware of the latest development, technology trend, and also the key researchers in the field. The outcome of the confe, rence, for example, the attendance list and the conference proceeding could provide an ideal summary to serve the purpose. The confe, rence outcome is expected to provide direct benefits to ONR C4ISR (CODE 31) programs with specific focused areas such as Electromagn, etic materials, Electronic warfare, EO/IR sensors and sensor processing, and Nanoscale computing devices and systems. The proposed co,nference advances knowledge by bringing together experts, junior researchers, and students from all over the world to interact and e,xchange ideas in the area mid-IR optoelectronic materials and devices and the devices. The conference provides a prominent internati, onal forum for reporting new developments in the areas of fundamental and applied infrared optoelectronic materials development, gro, wth, and characterization; infrared optoelectronic devices, components, and systems; infrared emitters and detectors; interband and, intersubband materials and devices; novel architectures based on new materials and low dimensional structures; and non-linear infrar,ed optoelectronics. The proposed activity benefits society by advancing the knowledge base of mid-IR materials and devices needed for, present and future engineering grand challenges, such as infrared lasers and detectors for homeland security and pollution detectio,n, efficient infrared lasers and detectors for information and communication technology, and photovoltaic and thermal photovoltaic s,olar-electrics for sustainable energy conversion. The proposed activity advances discovery and understanding while promoting teachin,g, training, and learning by bringing together researchers and students with broad areas of expertise to understand and discover the, fundamentals IR materials and the novel devices enabled by these materials. Moreover, the proposed activity adds value by enhancing, science and technology through broader dissemination and understanding via face-to-face interaction at the conference technical ses, sions.
