Fiber Laser System
Abstract
This proposal requests funds to purchase a fiber laser and harmonic generator system to produce wavelength 389 nm light for experime,nts in the Metcalf lab and to provide an ultra-stable reference for the frequency comb in the Allison lab. These research groups are, supported by the ONR and the AFOSR respectively. Presently the 389 nm light is produced by a Ti:Sapphire laser operating at wavel,ength 778 nm that is frequency doubled. Aligning the frequency doubler is a time-consuming process that can take several hours.
