Autonomous Sensing for Ocean Acoustics

Abstract

We propose the purchase of a system that can autonomously perform sensing of the acoustics environment in shallow water. The systemconsists of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) and an embedded single-board processor integrated into the payload section of the AUV. The embedded single-board processor can record, store, and process acoustic data and establish an interface with the control unit of the AUV. This will make it possible to adapt the underwater track of the autonomous platform online based on information extracted from the acoustic data. In addition, the ability to adjust the depth of different acoustic arrays will introduce an importantenvironmental sensing capability during acoustic data collection experiments. This abstract is publicly releasable.
