Student Travel Support Proposal for the 2023 IEEE Pulsed Power Conference (PPC)
Abstract
Approved for Public ReleaseThe purpose of this proposal is to request funds to support student participation in the 2023 Pulsed Power Conference that will be held in San Antonio, Texas. Like in previous conferences, the requested funds in addition to funding student travel will be used to assist them in covering lodging expenditures. In the 2023 PPC conference we expect to assist at least 20 students by encouraging them to share rooms when appropriate. We will prioritize providing assistance to U.S. students given the ongoing employment crisis created in part by the COVID pandemic. There is currently a large demand for young college graduates to fill positions in STEM fields and particularly high in the pulsed power field. For this reason, we believe it is of critical importance to support students interested in this area, provide them with networking opportunities, and better educate them on the direction thefield is taking.
