Additional Support for NESMA 2023

Abstract

Dr. Oleg Godin at the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS) has requested the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution#s (WHOI) Mooring Operations and Engineering Groups (MOE) expertise in the design of four passive acoustic moorings for use on the ONR NESMA Project. The Moored Autonomous Noise Receivers (MANR) will be lowered to the seafloor to achieve precision spacing. Expected depths will range from 1600 meters to 2600 meters. The Principal Investigator is Mr. John Kemp.WHOI is providing a mooring technician to support the NESMA mooring recovery operations planned on the R/V Endeavor. Having mooring expertise on the cruise will allow the project PI#s an additional option to recover equipment at the end of the Pilot Experiment.Approved for public release.
