NIUVT - Applied Research to Advance Current and Future Technologies in the Undersea Vehicle Domain (FY22)

Abstract

Approved for Public ReleaseThe National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT) is focused on persistent government-industry-academia collaboration to accelerate the advancement of undersea technology important to national defense and economic development. The proposed funding will support NIUVT applied research aligned to effectively meet current and future needs of the Navy. Consistent with the Navy#s strategy, the NIUVT mission is to conduct applied research to accelerate the development and transition of enabling technologies to advance and streamline the design and manufacturing of the next-generation U.S. undersea fleet. The requested funding will address the urgency and importance of injecting advanced technologies into new designs/blocks by continuing to support and aggressively expanding applied research in undersea vehicle technologies. To efficiently allocate resources and accelerate advances in undersea vehicle innovation and technology, well-focused high-impact applied research projects will be conducted. The undersea vehicle research will provide solutions and explore opportunities to accelerate innovation in the undersea research and development enterprise.
