Graduate Student Funding (Special Research Award) for vector acoustic studies in underwater acoustic with emphasis on SBCEX2022 data analysis
Abstract
Funding for the support of two graduate students to pursue Ph.D. research at the University of Washington, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering (UW) in the area of underwater acoustics is proposed. Two students are identified, both having participated in the 2022 Sediment Acoustics Experiment. (SBCEX 2022). The majority of the funding will cover one student, who is currently established in her graduate research at the UW, with expected completion in March 2025. The remaining funds will be used by a second student who begins his PhD studies in Fall 2023 and will be supported his first year by UW funds, with remaining years covered by a combination of this ONR grant and research funds from Canada. Both students will work in the area of vector acoustics involving data from SBCEX 2022.
