Broadening Participation of Underrepresented Groups In US Navy-Related Educational Experiences
Abstract
On June 25, 2021, President Biden signed Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce (Executive Order). This Executive Order launched a whole-of-government initiative to cultivate a federal workforce that draws from the full diversity of the Nation and that advances equitable employment opportunities1. In response to this order, the Department of Defense identified five goals in its strategic plan for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, namely# Goal 1-Diversity: Enhanced Global Joint Warfighter Capability to Address Emerging Security Challenges;# Goal 2 - Diversity: Culture of Organizational Resiliency;# Goal 3 - Equity: Expansion of Equity and Equality;# Goal 4 - Inclusion: Workforce Inclusivity;# Goal 5 - Accessibility: Commitment to Accessibility
