MTV Measurement of Near Wall Turbulent Velocity Fluctuations over an Airfoil

Abstract

This project aims to advance velocimetry techniques to high spatial and temporal resolution for flow configurations of relevance tonaval hydroacoustics and deploy them in-situ at the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCCD). The data are intended to infer complex transient phenomena and validate numerical models used by NSWCCD engineers as well as collaborate with themon novel experimental techniques. The molecular tagging velocimetry (MTV) system was deployed a first time in the NSWCCD#s anechoicflow facility in 2022. We are here proposing to conduct a second campaign implementing the lessons learned from the first deployment.
