Support and Advancement of the Ocean Acoustics Library (OALIB) Website

Abstract

We propose to provide continuing access to the Ocean Acoustics Library website (https://oalib-acoustics.org). The Ocean Acoustics Library (OALIB) is composed of essential underwater acoustic computational models, tools, information, and field data available to the entire underwater acoustics community. For the site to continue as a useful resource, it must be current, well-maintained and relevant to the acoustics community. Our team of experts will provide the expertise to continue this support. We propose to keep the site updated with new features and content since it is a trusted resource that fills a need in underwater acoustics research and acoustics education. The computational codes at the OALIB site contains numerous models used for underwater sound simulation and modeling, along with associated code documentation and some other ocean acoustic reference material. The underwater acoustic models used in research to study underwater sound and to analyze the physical connections of ocean processes, features and biology with acousticpropagation effects are provided. OALIB also provides a central site for the diverse acoustics models that are necessary for current Navy underwater research. Under this project the OALIB site will continue to maintain reliability, speed, and security, plus metrics of completeness and up-to-date nature will be analyzed and addressed. The proposed project will ensure continued availability tothe resources found at OALIB and will contain recent additions of the state-of-the-art theoretical and numerical underwater acoustic models that are found there. The OALIB site also provides support and assistance for students, postdoctoral investigators, and experienced researchers that use the models there. The continuation and maintenance of this site will be directly useful to Navy students and personnel for understanding performance limits and understanding of Navy systems. Continuation and regular routine supportof this site are important to the entire ocean research community.
