Increasing IVAR-2 depth capability to 2000m

Abstract

The Intensity Vector Autonomous Recorder system (IVAR-2) records four coherent channels of acoustic data continuously, one channel for acoustic pressure and three channels for acoustic acceleration from which acoustic velocity is obtained. Funding is proposed to the support development of the IVAR-2 vector sensor for increased depth capability to 2000 m, from the current 1000 m. This improved capability will allow deployment IVAR-2 at one or more sites on the A2 seamount in spring 2024, for which the depth exceeds 1000 m as part of the New England Seamounts Experiment (NESMA).
