2024 Polymer Physics Gordon Research Conference

Abstract

Project Summary- Approved for Public Release This proposal requests support for the 2024 Polymer Physics Gordon Research Conference (GRC) and the associated Polymer Physics Gordon Research Seminar (GRS). Plastics are of great importance across diverse societal needs and industrial sectors, including energy, infrastructure, transportation, water, and health. The 2024 Gordon Research Conference on Polymer Physics will focus on new experimental, simulation, and theoretical developments over a range of emerging topics of importance to the Navy including: structure-property relationships in organic electronics, dynamic networks and polymer upcycling, coacervates, battery materials, water purification membranes, and zwitterions. The conference will be comprised of 19 world-leading speakers as well as an emerging investigator session featuring shorter talks by six early career investigators. Each speaker is required to attend the meeting not only for their own session, but to remain engaged in other events of the week, therefore creating many opportunities for the entire community to engage. The retreat-like atmosphere of the meeting is ideal for networking and mentorship of early career participants while also creating opportunities to seed new collaborations across participants of all backgrounds and career stages.
