Funding to Support Student and Young Researcher Scholarship for 13th International Workshop on Detonation for Propulsion (IWDP)
Abstract
The purpose of this action is to add FY24 CR4 funds, in the amount of $79,350.00, to fully fund a new Start grant. GRANT#14086334 is applicable.--Approved for Public ReleaseFunding to Support Student and Young Researcher Scholarship for 13th International Workshop on Detonation for Propulsion (IWDP)This is a request of funding to offer a number of scholarships to US students and young researchers to support their participation to the 13th International Workshop on Detonation for Propulsion (IWDP), planned for June 10-14, 2024, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The scholarship will be assigned based on submission of a paper or poster presentation, attendanceto the meeting, and contribution to the workshop discussion and success by presenting their technical work.The workshop is a collaborative meeting to discuss and exchange current advancements on fundamental and applied aspects of detonation for propulsion, as an attempt to collaborative address the most challenging aspects of detonation propulsion. The workshop will specifically focus and highlight the latest achievement in the community, with emphasis on both rotating detonation and pulsed detonation engines, for rocket and air-breathing applications. The workshop will welcome the international community to a round table to exchange recent activitiesand achievements across the world, and will provide a direct view of the international activities to the US community, in support of the efforts that the current activities in the USA. The workshop will bring the international community together to exchange ideasin support of the transition of detonations for propulsion applications.The workshop will be organized during the June 10-14, 2024 period, with a combination oftechnical exchanges, social and networking events. The meeting will host a number of prominent invited speakers who have shown significant advancements to the fundamental and application of detonations for propulsion in recent years, as well as speakers who submits a paper for oral or poster presentation on topics responsive of relevant thematic areas that support the advancement of detonation propulsion.
