FLYWHEEL INTEGRATION EVALUATION AND VALIDATION TEST SUPPORT
Abstract
The Navy is exploring the use of high speed composite flywheels for shipboard energy storage to buffer large loads. The objective of this effort is to define the topology trade space and identify shipboard integration issues for flywheel energy storage used to buffer large loads. UT-CEM will perform a SWaP study of the flywheel integrated with a motor generator and assess the skid and platform level impacts of integrating a flywheel energy storage system. In addition, UT-CEM will support validation testing of power system models incorporating flywheels in a representative test bed. Approved for Public Release
