TFO Acoustics and Oceanographic Data Repository
Abstract
Approved for Public ReleaseWe created a secure, online data repository (https://tfo-dataportal.org) in 2020 to archive and easily share ONR Task Force Ocean (TFO) specific field work data among TFO investigators, post-docs and students. We propose to continue support for this TFO data repository since field work data collection and investigation hasn#t yet completed. Functionally, this site is used for communication, data storage and distribution for archiving, as well as a data portal during real-time operations. The TFOrepository has provided TFO participants an essential place to share their data with the other TFO PIs and provide information of their work. Already housing extensive acoustic experiment datasets, the TFO repository can continue to grow, build, and enhance data archiving, querying, and data exploration. The repository holds valuable acoustics and directly related physical oceanography and geological data sets for ONR and TFO investigators. Tools and tasks from this repository may be expanded in the future to include the wider underwater acoustics research community but for now is only available to TFO participants. Currently, this work provides a secure, dedicated site for unclassified acoustics research data from TFO sponsored field work, with the understanding that the data, tools and resources developed here are available for future relevant Navy task planning and decision support.
