D ENTERPRISE UCSD SIO

Abstract

Diversifying & Engaging the Navy through Technical Education & Recruitment Partnerships for Research Innovations in Science & Engineering (D-ENTERPRISE) is a multi-phased, multi-institution, multi-region program designed to engage underrepresented BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students and scholars in ONR CODE 32-related research, with an emphasis on physical oceanography. The program leverages the breadth of experience and knowledge of 9 academic institutions in 3 regions (West, South, and East) to provide participants with high-impact, student-centered programming, innovative research collaborations, and a broad variety of career pathways that align with ONR workforce needs. The program includes a multitude of student engagement opportunities, tiered mentorship support and training, research matchmaking to increase ONR-funding opportunities for scholars at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSI)s, and multi-year program evaluation and assessment. This abstract is publiclyreleasable.
