Improving the Model Simulation of Surface Wave Impacts on Air-Sea Fluxes, Turbulent Boundary Layers, and their Impacts on Indian Monsoons in the Arabian Sea

Abstract

The proposed work is a resubmission of an FY23 grant as the PI moved institutions. The previous grant will be closed. THe proposed work includes a model-data synthesis that will validate and refine the parameterizations for air-sea fluxes mediated by surface wave interaction with turbulent boundary layer processes in the Arabian Sea. High-resolution, fully coupled ocean-atmosphere-wave model simulations will be used to study critical aspects of the #wave-based# air-sea flux parameterizations in the COARE algorithm. Model results will be compared to in situ measurements in the region collected as part of the departmental research initiative.-
