Abstract
This grant will directly support the ProSource360 contract award N00014-23-C-4002 that provides appointments of students including those from HBCU/MIs, to participate in research activities at Naval Research and Development laboratories and activities. --The Naval Science Awards Program (NSAP) is a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps program that encourages our nation s students to develop and retain an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). NSAP provides recognition incentives to outstanding middle school and high school students to encourage future pursuit of STEM at the undergraduate level and beyond. ProSource360 understands the purpose of the ONR Naval Science Awards Program. The program mission is to plan, foster, and encourage scientific research in recognition of its importance as related to the maintenance of future naval power, preservation of national security and to manage the Navy#s basic, applied, and advanced research to foster transition from science and technology to higher levels of research, development, test, and evaluation. Science and Technology supplies the pipeline of knowledge, concepts, and prototypes that leads to products and builds a cadre of scientists, engineers, and researchers focused on naval issues and challenges. The ONR NSAP contractor distributes award packets to science fair officials who register their regional or state science fair annually on the ONR NSAP website. The number of award packets mailed to the science fairs is determined by the number of student exhibitors entered by the science fair officials in their on-line registration. The science fair officials also receive NSAP information and guidelines on the NSAP awards. A judge or judges at each science fair review and select the NSAP project awardees. The science fair officials distribute the NSAP awards to student awardees. Awardee packets include an ONR medallion, an ONR Naval Science Award certificate and letter of congratulations. In addition, senior division (9th-12th grade) awardees receive an award verification form, redeemable for an education recognition award (gift card). The NSAP also includes an annual ONR scholarship award and administration and paymentofthe scholarships to the awardees# college or university, if the awardee remains eligible under the ONR scholarship award agreement requirements. The $10,000.00 scholarship is payable in four increments of $2,500.00 per year. The Navy and Marine Corps judging panel annually attends International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) and selects one scholarship awardee for this$10,000 college scholarship. This awardee is selected from a pool of approximately 1800 finalists.ProSource360 will support the program as follows:# Coordinate with the ONR Program Manager the planning, implementation and monitoring of the NSAP.# Provide education outreach logistics planning support for NSAP by assisting ONR in developing marketing materials and coordinating the acquisition of specialty item awards and NSAP educational recognition awards.# Advise organizers of the science fairs and distribute relevant information to facilitate the successful conduct of the NSAP.# Advise NSAP student scholarship awardees, monitor their continued scholarship eligibility, and distribute scholarships to accredited institutions of enrollment.# Monitor educational transcripts of award recipients.# Facilitate the participation of Navy judges in the ISEF by holding hotel room reservations with the contractor#s credit card. Payment for hotel rooms is then completed by the specific ONR attendees. # Manage grant funding to process payments for all NSAP awards.
