HeMPI - Helium Impact on microparticles (MPs) and extracellular vesicles (EVs) release and content.

Abstract

Abstract: In this study, we will seek to isolate extracellular vesicles (EVs) and microparticles (MPs) from animals and lungs-on-a-chip submitted to a simulated dive. We will then characterize them using ultrasound imaging, identify their content, (especially their RNAs, including micro RNAs, and proteins) and compare Helium and Nitrogen as diluent gas to compare EVs and MPs production in order to assess their potency to trigger decompression sickness. If the results are conclusive, we will finish with a human pilot study. Keywords: decompression sickness; extracellular vesicles; lung-on-a-chip; ultrasound; inflammation; helium.
