Optimization of Decision Trees by Delaying the Split Decision

Abstract

Design and implementation of a fast tree algorithm that not only delays the split decision but establishes a priori when and how deep into the tree the greediness should be delayed. Meeting this objective will provide the U.S. Navy a tool that can be used to provide a more complete understanding of the battle space environment which will provide significant improvement to both Maritime Mission Planning and Sensor Management and Allocation.
