Enabling Deterministic Behavior in Virtualized Multi-Core Environments

Abstract

Virtualization has many important advantages such as isolation, flexibility and hardware compatibility, however, at the cost of increased uncertainty in performance. Unfortunately, such uncertainty in performance burdens using virtualization for real-time applications with critical deadlines; deterministic performance is a strict requirement for such applications. In this proposal, we aim at enabling deterministic performance when running real-time tasks on virtualized environments.
