Harnessing Quantum Correlations for Quantum Sensing

Abstract

We address two topics related to Navy’s interests in advanced quantum imaging technologies. We will verify that entangled photons can be created using a photon entangler. We will verify the utilization and exploitation of quantum correlations which are essential to implement quantum sensing. Finally, we will perform experimental measurements to detect targets (mirrors) at various ranges to validate our approach. The research will develop robust approaches for detection and range estimation of targets using quantum phenomena in a laboratory setting as a proof-of-concept.
