Mixing and Additively Manufacturing Energetic Material Systems
Abstract
A NEEC partnership is proposed between the University of Maryland and NSWC-IHEODTD. The goal of this project-based research effort is to train the brightest students on the means and methods foundational to resonant acoustic mixing of energetics. We propose a combined theoretical and experimental effort focused on developing a rigorous understanding of microstructures in energetic materials using advanced techniques in additive manufacturing and artificial intelligence. A management plan will also create a sustained pipeline to steer the brightest students to positions of service and leadership in NSWC-IH.
