Senior Design Project in Support of Naval Applications

Abstract

It is proposed to engage ocean engineering seniors at Florida Atlantic University in developing autonomous systems of Naval relevance. Ocean engineering seniors at FAU participate in a twosemester capstone design project that involves designing, building, testing and demonstrating of complete ocean engineering systems. The students work in teams that are supported by faculty and technical staff. As part of the proposed effort, a team of students will be assigned a project in the area of autonomous unmanned maritime platforms. The project will involve specific requirements of Naval relevance, to be determined in conjunction with NSWC-CD. The project will involve 6 to 7 ocean engineering seniors, mentored by faculty and technical staff at FAU, and 10 affiliated undergraduates, in support of STEM education and NEEC objectives
