Project on Advanced Systems and Concepts for Countering WMD

Abstract

The “US-China Strategic Dialogue” will continue the PASCC-sponsored Track-1.5 Strategic Dialogue sessions between US and Chinese military and civilian officials and experts. The objective of the Dialogue, which will take place in Hawaii in September 2015 and Beijing in Spring 2016, is to help build greater understanding between the United States and China on strategic nuclear issues and prepare for and support eventual bilateral and/or multilateral official engagements on strategic nuclear and arms control talks involving China.. The Dialogue will explore the differences in US and Chinese strategic thinking, reduce misperceptions, clarify the intent of US nuclear policy, enhance US understanding of Chinese views on the role of strategic forces, and help create confidence to build a stronger relationship between the two countries.
