upport and strengthen HIV prevention, testing and counseling, care, treatment, and strategic information activities in collaboration with the Government of Niger

Abstract

Population Services International (PSI) is proposing a project to support and strengthen HIV prevention, testing and counseling, care, treatment, and strategic information activities in collaboration with the Government of Niger. Strategies outlined complement regional HIV activities targeting national security forces and other U.S. Government supported health initiatives in Niger. The program will contribute to the goal of reducing HIV incidence among Niger’s armed forces through three objectives: 1) To increase access to HIV prevention, testing and counseling, care and treatment services; 2) To increase informed demand for HIV prevention, testing and counseling, care and treatment services; and 3) To improve quality of HIV prevention, testing and counseling, care and treatment services. Activities will be available to military personnel of all ranks and their families nationally, with focus targeted to high-risk locations and behaviors. Activities will be implemented within a health systems strengthening approach and using Positive Health, Dignity, and Prevention principles, working with military leadership and people living with HIV/AIDS to support planning, policy development, and implementation.
