HIV/AIDS Prevention Care, and Treatment Support for the Ivorian Defense Forces

Abstract

Population Services International (PSI) is proposing a project to strengthen HIV/AIDs services for the military and their families along the treatment cascade. PSI/CI proposes a systems strengthening approach to contribute to the goal of increasing the capacity of the Ivorian military health system to address the HIV epidemic within the military PSI/CI will collaborate with the Ivorian Ministry of Defense (MoD) to achieve the following objectives: Strengthen military health facilities and human resource capabilities to provide sustainable quality services along the treatment cascade; Increase commitment of military leadership to address and coordinate HIV-related care and support to seropositive military personnel and their families; and Increase the number of military who know their HIV status and are referred for care and treatment if necessary. The project will benefit military personnel from all ranks and their families, with a particular focus on those most-at-risk of HIV and those who are HIV-positive. The project will also target military medical professors, military health professionals including doctors, nurses, and laboratory technicians, and military leaders.
