Distinguishing Wolves Among the Sheep: How Additive Manufacturing Could Enhance Nonproliferation Controls

Abstract

The goal of this project is to assess the extent to which additive manufacturing exacerbates the challenge of distinguishing civilian and military capabilities in partner nations such as Egypt. We want to determine if additive manufacturing can be turned into an asset rather than a liability for nonproliferation controls. Egypt provides a critical test case given its investments in dual use production technology and role as a transshipment node.
