Collaborative Research and Education on Modular Multilevel Converter
Abstract
The program involves two tasks: modeling and simulation of MMC and Hybrid MMC (HMMC) systems using PLECS platform for grid-tied and motor-drive applications and a scaled low voltage, low-power prototype for control performance evaluation. The collaboration will involve weekly/biweekly meetings online or in person via Zooms, where the co-PIs will supervise the graduate students progress and provide steering direction as necessary. The program s total budget will cover supervision and lab expenses of graduate students, with the CPES allocating internal resources for NPS s full-time student working on the project during summertime.
