Novel Optical Sensing Schemes for Underwater Imaging

Abstract

This project will investigate the feasibility of previous scientific finding in a real implemented system. It also aims to finalize the image reconstruction algorithm and optimization of the scanning pattern or strategy for target recognition through a murky/dirty water environment. Additionally, the project’s goal is to test how the results perform when the theory assumptions are not strictly satisfied. All of the proposed research goals are critical to the final implementation or integration of the University of Maryland’s new method to Navy based applications in obtaining imagery in a murky water scenario.
