NICOP - Prediction of broaching-to of ships in an irregular seaway: coupled motions
Abstract
This research is directly related to a core effort in the Ship Hydrodynamics Program of the P.O., Dr. Thomas Fu, on the prediction of extreme ship motions. Prof. Spyrou has high standing and respect within the research community and has performed exceedingly well in a previous grant. He will be a significant contributor to the research efforts in this area. The result of this research work will very likely be used for the evaluation of “safe operation envelop” of US naval ships.
