CSP - LITTORAL OP TECH-EAST WORKSHOP
Abstract
A. The Littoral OpTech West Workshop will address specific issues related to achieving operational and technological advantages in the littorals based on emerging threats and shifting priorities of both the US Navy and Coalition Forces in this environment. This event will begin an exploration of the evolving challenges faced within the littorals through collaboration with experts from key regions where the "grand convergence" and "area specific operational conditions" comingle, including Sweden, France, UK, Norway. This collaborative environment will allow an initial investigation into specific focus areas for research and development. Topics for the event include the following: 1. Persistent sensing and accurate targeting ~ knowing the environment, closing the gaps and sorting through the clutter to increase situational awareness and reduce mistakes 2. The underwater advantage: conventional technologies and interoperability with the US nuclear submarine force.3. Littoral Maneuver: technologies for innovative distribution and projection of offensive power.4. Flexible logistics: Enhancing littoral maneuver capability with specific focus on surface connectors for the transport of Marines, weapons, vehicles, and large-footprint materiel ashore. Further discussion focused on exploiting advances in energy production & storage and non-kinetic fires to enable sustainment of distributed maneuver forces.
