CSP - 17TH US-JAPAN SEMINAR ON DIELECTRIC AND PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMICS

Abstract

a. Technical: The US-Japan Seminar on Dielectric and Piezoelectric Ceramics was conceived by ONR and the Defense Academy of Japan in 1983 to promote the collaboration of US and Japanese researchers on electronic ceramics. This meeting has been held every two years, alternating between US and Japan. The 17th US-Japan Seminar will be held on November 15-18, 2015 in Matsumoto, Japan. The Seminar covers a broad spectrum of electronic ceramics research, from structure-property relations, material synthesis, characterization, to many practical applications. Participants include leading US and Japanese university and industrial scientists. This has been an important forum for US and Japanese scientists to have technical interchange on a regular basis. ONR and ONRG have supported the last 16 events. Due to the technological importance of electronic ceramics, the Air Force and Army will co-sponsor the Seminar, as they have done in recent years. b. Relevance: Electronic ceramics are widely used in military applications including, but not limited to, sonar transducers, sensors, actuators, capacitors, inductors, and memory devices. The Seminar will improve the scientific understanding of ferroelectric materials and therefore enhance the functionality of many future electronic devices.
