CSP - THE 10TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF ACCMS-VO

Abstract

Purpose of the conference The purpose of the conference organized by ACCMS-VO (Asian Consortium onComputational Materials Science-Virtual Organization) is to realize the objectives of ACCMS indicated below by annual meeting of the members to exchange ideas and promote further international collaborations. The next one expected in November, 2015 in Sendai, Japan, is the 10th anniversary of the series of the conferences, the General Meeting of the ACCMS-VO, and we plan to confirm the long term cooperation of this virtual organization and to discuss how to expand the future of the organization. The Objectives of ACCMS; (1) To promote advancement of computational science in general and computational materials science in particular, in Asian countries. (2) To undertake and actively support research and development and innovations in computational materials science. (3) To identify and give thrust to state-of-the-art simulation tools used for real materials in different length scales (from nanoscopic to macroscopic) and different time scales (from picosecs to secs). (4) To emphasize collaborative development of original program packages and also parallel programs on new methodologies and large scale simulation tools and their applications. (5) To establish strong link with experimentalists in member countries working on novel materials, which enable symbiosis in creative design of materials. (6) To provide students education : (a) remote education with virtual realities through computer simulations, with emphasis on graphical applications, (b) exchange of graduate course students, and (c)evaluation, credit and certificates. (7) To form `virtual laboratories in computational materials science and exploit the existing computational resources for mutual benefit. (8) To ensure active professional contact with other materials research societies such as MRS (Boston), IUMRS, Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials, Third World Academy of Sciences (Trieste), ESF and TMR-networks (Europe).
