A Meeting on Civilian Use of Military Spectrum Bands: Technologies, Impacts and Opportunities

Abstract

Propose to host a small, two-day research-intensive meeting on Civilian and Military spectrum sharing in the Dublin region in late October 2014. This meeting will bring together military and academic experts from Europe and the United States to present and discuss recent research and regulatory developments, clearly articulate the challenges and opportunities that spectrum sharing offers to the US and allied military forces, and define promising approaches and research directions to address these challenges and exploit these opportunities. The proposed workshop will focus on international issues, thereby moving beyond past workshops held in the US, especially by the FCC and NTIA. We believe that knowledge of international progress in cognitive spectrum management is currently lacking within DoD
