Abstract

It is proposed to have a workshop on “Virtual Immersive Environments for complex Human-Machine Systems”. In the context of complex human-machine systems such environments raised more and more interest not only to train the human user but also to find requirements, to support development and to validate the system. Therefore this workshop shall investigate on respective chances, challenges and limitations. The topic addresses a variety of USN S&T objectives related to the following focus areas: Autonomy and Unmanned Systems, Platform Design and Survivability as well as Total Ownership Cost. The idea of this proposal is supported by Dr. Julie Stark (ONRG Associate Director) and Dr. Marc Steinberg (ONR Code 35). They are requested to have active participation in the workshop. It is planned to issue conference proceedings consisting of presentation material, group work documentation as well as a summary of achieved results and recommendations for further activities
