Advanced Computational and Experimental Techniques in Nonlinear Dynamics
Abstract
This workshop brings together leaders in the field of computational and experimental nonlinear dynamics. This has application to a number of fields of interest to the Naval Research enterprise, including the work of Michael Shlesinger (ONR 30) and Adi Bulsara s research group at SPAWAR, which has exploited effects like stochastic resonance and used the inherent nonlinearity of certain material systems to design high-sensitivity low-cost magnetometers. Although attendees at this workshop include a number of leading US and European scientists and mathematicians, a substantial fraction will be from Mexico, Peru, Brazil, and other Latin American countries, and hence should offer insight into what is going on in the region in nonlinear physics
