Tunable plasmonic optical fiber filters

Abstract

Gold nanorods have properties that can be "tuned". When integrated with research on fibreoptic cables, they offer the opportunity to have tuneable cables- for sensors for example.Future ships will be heavily sensored, and will use electricity in an increased number of ways beyond the senors, to include weapons and power systems. Tuneable fibreoptic cables will be a useful way to control these new systems
