CSP - 17TH ASIAN PACIFIC CORRSION CONTROL CONFERENCE
Abstract
17th Asian Pacific Corrosion Control Conference Victor Menezes Convention Center Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, INDIA January 27-30, 2016 The subject of corrosion is very important for researchers and engineers as the loss due to this problem costs a nation about 3.5% of its GNP. Almost all metals and their alloys employed for various applications suffer corrosion failure, due to their inherent tendency to corrosion, causing loss in products, productivity, safety and reliability of engineering components and it can endanger environment- to mention a few. Emergence of new technologies, cause of environmental damage and depleting natural resources drives corrosion research to understand the mechanisms of corrosion, to device means of proactive management of asserts and to built safe and reliable devices and structures. The Asian Pacific Corrosion Control Conference series, conducted once in three years, in Asia pacific region is an important forum for academia, R & D and technologies to deliberate on the recent developments in the area of corrosion science and engineering. Corrosion being a multidisciplinary subject, it attracts experts in the area of metallurgy/materials science, electrochemistry and chemical and mechanical engineering to unravel the complexities of this subject. The 17th Asian Pacific Corrosion Control Conference (APCC17) is 17th in the series and will be hosted by Indian Institute of Technology, a premier academic institute of India along with several professional societies. The conference covers all aspects of materials corrosion and their prevention. Some of the important topics of high scientific technological importance include: advance materials, corrosion at atomic and micro levels, and corrosion management of defence assets, materials aging issues in nuclear systems, thermal power plants, automobiles, tribocorrosion, inhibitors, and smart coating. Experts from a host of academic institutes, R & D institutions, and industries from India and across the globe will be participating in the conference. Over 250 abstracts have been received out of which about 90 are from overseas delegates from 22 countries including United States of America. About 20 plenary and key note lectures, by the leading experts will set the tone on various themes of the conference. The conference will hold about five parallel sessions. The conference will publish an abstract booklet, soft copy of the manuscripts as proceedings and selected manuscripts in SCI journals after due review process. The concluding session will sum up the current state-of- the art research deliberated during the conference and highlight the future directions of research.
